Rockin' Out West - Introducing Mojave
After asking our friends on Twitter for a Canadian band on the rise, a couple friends suggested I take a look at a band from Vancouver, B.C. called Mojave. I was directed to their new album called Crow's Funeral and listened to the beginning of a song called For a While where I was immediately intrigued.
The band was officially formed in 2007 as a side project by two members of two other Vancouver hard rock bands. After two years of writing songs together LJ and Paul had created an entire album which was ready to go by the time the other two bands broke up. The writers past rock groups lend influence into Mojave's sound but it is softened with classical elements such as the viola and violin.

Mojave is also focused on creating a green music scene. Their first album Stories avoids packaging by being offered exclusively through digital retailers. All travel the band does is carbon offset through Tree Canada. Mojave is also members of 1% for the Planet donating a portion of their profits to environmental charities. (Roots loves this!)
2008 was a busy year for Mojave touring Canada and the US, having the opportunity to play world famous venues like Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. I hope this Canadian success keeps getting bigger and spreading their love for the environment!
